weekend soundtrack

Even when school isn't extremely busy it seems like always makes up for it. I promised myself that I would get back on the blog-train full time, but this week I seem to keep missing my stop. This week was a little bit of a whirlwind. Which I will post about later this weekend.

My weekend consists of pool tonight with some other psych students, a haunted house for charity, work, and catching up on some homework that I fell behind with during my two week madness of exams and meetings.

1. Boston - Augustana
2. Bright than Sunshine - Aqualung
3. What's so Bad (About Feeling Good) - Ben Lee
4. Feel This - Bethany Joy Galeotti
5. Heartbeatz - Jose Gonzalez

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Music Monday: Crash Kings

This is the first official fall edition of Music Monday (and the first post since August because I've been totally slack on the blog thing and totally wrapped up in the school thing). My good friend Jamie introduced me to these guys a little over a week ago. We were getting in his car to go to the store and before I had my seatbelt on he was gushing (okay taking, apparently boys don't gush) about how sure he was that I was going to love this band. We have a pretty similar taste in music so I had no doubt that I would enjoy Crash Kings, but I had no idea I would become so obsessed in such a short time.

Their self-titled album Crash Kings is filled with tracks that will ease your mind and make you want to sing along.

There song It's Only Wednesday is one of my favorite, along with Come Away and Raincoat. Or.. well I kinda really like all of their songs.

On another note, Fall is officially here and last night was the first night that I had to sleep with my window closed and under all of my covers.

Also, there is a new layout coming. I promise.

weekend soundtrack.

I have been looking forward to my weekend off since I had a horrendous day at work on Tuesday. So this weekend I'm in CB with the boyfriend where our sole goal of the weekend is to do whatever we want. We are planning on relaxing, eating children's cereal while watching cartoons, drinking too much wine, tanning (if it actually decides to be nice on my day off), maybe heading to the beach, and doing a little bit of hiking (weather permitting of course). So for this weekend I am actually going to use an entire CD for my soundtrack. For those of you who watch How I Met Your Mother this is for you and all those Barney Stinsten fans...

Barney's Get Psyched Mix

1. You Give Love A Bad Name - Bon Jovi
2. I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sisters
3. Lick It Up - Kiss
4. Paradise City - Guns N` Roses
5. Dancing With Myself - Billy Idol
6. Rock You Like a Hurricane - Scorpions
7. Panama - Van Halen
8. Thunderstruck - ACDC
9. Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue

This is perfect music for hiking a mountain, driving or dancing around in your underwear!

Music Monday: John Mayer

John Mayer is always my go-to artist. His soothing voice is perfect to listen to while driving, cooking, cleaning, reading, and just about anything I can think of. He is one of the artists that always puts me in a good mood and relaxes me after a stressful day. He is always on my playlist when I head to he library to write a paper.

John is currently on tour promoting his new album Battle Studies.

Check out his website for lots of fan extras.

John also writes a blog about all aspects of his life, including photos of his dog Jack Bauer.

weekend soundtrack. better late than never.

We're obviously half finished with the weekend so maybe I should have titled this "Saturday Night at Home Organizing, Movie-Watching and Catching Up on Sleep Soundtrack." But that would have made a really long title.

Last night I was in CB, two of my really good friends Mark and James were in for the weekend so I made the trip down last night to see them - and then made the trip back this morning for work. We had a really enjoyable evening with lots of laughs, drinking, memories and stupid moments. Which is what usually happens when the three of us get together.

I worked all day, and work again tomorrow. Therefore, tonight I'm going to be taking a look at my 101/1001 list and really seeing what I can start doing and start planing for those that are going to require more work. I'm also going to watch a movie and relax after that, although I know I should clean my room. But here is what I'll be listening to while doing whatever I decide is more fitting for my mood:

Previous Love - James Morrison

Better Together - Jack Johnson

Assassin - John Mayer

If It Kills Me - Jason Moraz

Because You're A Woman - Brett Dennen

Music Monday!

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! This Monday I'd like to introduce you all to Carolina Liar, a rock band based out of Los Angeles that makes me swoon.

Their album Coming to Terms is full of tracks that will make you happy, sad, and tracks that will calm you down; which you can listen to here

I first heard this band on 90210 and then later again on One Tree Hill (yes, I'm well aware that I am too old to be watching such shows!)

Oh, did I mention that they also have a blog

weekend soundtrack

I am a firm believer that every moment if your life should have a soundtrack and my ipod is never out of reach. This weekend I am planning on doing a whole lot of relaxing and also a fair amount of driving. Therefore my top 5 songs for the weekend include:

1. Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
It's not a road trip in my family without little Journey (even if the it's only a 30 minute drive!)

2. What's So Bad (About Feeling Good) - Ben Lee
Ben Lee just has a feel good vibe about his music and it's all so relaxing. It's the type of music that you can turn on and sing along with but also leave in the background as you go about your day.

3. I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide - ZZTop
Also another necessity while driving with my parents. Bands such as ZZTop are what my brother and I grew up listening to.

4. Heaven Only Knows - OKGiraffe
OKGiraffe hail from Montreal, Quebec and their music alternates between English and French (sometimes even in the same song!). I first saw them at my college bar a little over year ago, I was blown away at how beautiful this lady's voice is. They are definitely a band with checking out.

5. Why, Pt. 2 - Collective Soul
No matter what my mood, this is a song that constantly makes me feel 10x better. It always makes me want to stand up, dance and sing along.

I hope your weekend is lovely and full of adventure.

Music Monday!

Music is a really important part of my life. It calms me down when I'm upset, helps relax me when I'm stressed, and provides comfort when I need it.

Every Monday I am going to share one of my favorite bands with you, or even a band that I'm into at the moment. Some Mondays I may just flick through my iTunes to see what I'm in the mood for.

For my very first edition of Music Monday I'm going to share one of my all time favorite bands with you, one that has been my comfort for years.
