weekend soundtrack

Even when school isn't extremely busy it seems like always makes up for it. I promised myself that I would get back on the blog-train full time, but this week I seem to keep missing my stop. This week was a little bit of a whirlwind. Which I will post about later this weekend.

My weekend consists of pool tonight with some other psych students, a haunted house for charity, work, and catching up on some homework that I fell behind with during my two week madness of exams and meetings.

1. Boston - Augustana
2. Bright than Sunshine - Aqualung
3. What's so Bad (About Feeling Good) - Ben Lee
4. Feel This - Bethany Joy Galeotti
5. Heartbeatz - Jose Gonzalez

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

So Little Time..

For some reason I feel like I'm less involved around campus this year, yet I have less time to myself.  Which has now resulted in my quitting one of my part time jobs so I can breathe again, or at leasts that's the plan.

The last two weeks seem to have been mayhem. Filled with 4 exams, two papers, classes, meetings, a whirlwind trip to St. Johns (which means more meetings), and work. But luckily, school work-wise, I have nothing due this week and only a few things due the week after.. with only... ONE meeting! Which is a huge sigh of relief! Which means I'll still be living in the library.. but with more trips home and relaxation time. But the main goal is to find a nice balance of getting ahead in my work but not have to be constantly working or moving.

I also decided that school was messing with my exercising and healthy eating. When you're so busy it's hard to find time to go to the gym or eat healthy, when I could spend time in a chair writing a paper and grabbing the fastest meal I can find to maximize my school work productivity.

So these next few weeks are weeks of rebuilding a healthy lifestyle and spending a little time relaxing and a few dates with friends I haven't seen in a while. It's a welcomed change.

Long Weekends and Family Times

My father and I have now officially dubbed this long weekend:

The Weekend of Red Wine

Peace of Mind.

I've have had such a horrible week that I decided to take an extra day to my midterm break. I managed to find a ride home today instead of tomorrow and am skipping one class (although I made an arrangement with my prof for the missed class) because I really needed a break this week.

It seems like everything gets to me this week. It could be the smallest thing and it made me upset, and I can't count the number of times I cried over something stupid this week. So, I found a ride home and called my parents to let them know. My dad had a big glass of red wine waiting for me when I walked through the door.

I had a busy week in the library, with my first midterm break this morning, so I've decided that tomorrow is my day off. I am going to get up early, bake bread, and just flake.. maybe watch some TV, read a book, go for a run. Just do whatever I feel like. And then it's back to work on Saturday and Sunday, which includes school work and my two day midterm "break" is going to be spent studying for my four midterms the following week and preparing for my trip to St. Johns.  Busy, busy, busy!

I'm also debating a new hair cut. Currently my hair is pretty long, blonde and all one layer. So, I'm thinking something drastic, maybe more highlights, layers, and shorter! Maybe some bangs! Oh, the possibilities. I'm just really ready for a change. Some mid-semester blues have started to take over. But I am so excited for a day relaxation tomorrow!

Music Monday: Crash Kings

This is the first official fall edition of Music Monday (and the first post since August because I've been totally slack on the blog thing and totally wrapped up in the school thing). My good friend Jamie introduced me to these guys a little over a week ago. We were getting in his car to go to the store and before I had my seatbelt on he was gushing (okay taking, apparently boys don't gush) about how sure he was that I was going to love this band. We have a pretty similar taste in music so I had no doubt that I would enjoy Crash Kings, but I had no idea I would become so obsessed in such a short time.

Their self-titled album Crash Kings is filled with tracks that will ease your mind and make you want to sing along.

There song It's Only Wednesday is one of my favorite, along with Come Away and Raincoat. Or.. well I kinda really like all of their songs.

On another note, Fall is officially here and last night was the first night that I had to sleep with my window closed and under all of my covers.

Also, there is a new layout coming. I promise.

Oh.. Hello October!

I can't believe it's October already! And I'm not entirely sure where September went but I'm pretty sure I spent the majority of it in school or at the library. All I can say is that I'm thankful that this is my last year of my undergrad, because I could really use the break.

Although it's starting to look like fall here, it doesn't really fee like fall. I've usually dug out my winter coat by now and starting wearing layers. But of Friday I wore shorts and a t-shirt to class because it was a whopping 24 degrees here in Newfoundland! Which is nothing short of a miracle! Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week all consisted of 20+ degree weather when we're used to somewhere in the 5-10 range this time of year. I was super excited for the seemingly return of summer until I realized as I was going to bed that I live in an upstairs apartment that already feels like 20 degrees inside when it's 10 degrees outside. Needless to say it was a hard time trying to fall asleep.

But as I woke up this morning to 9 degrees, it seems to have returned to fall. The pretty colors are everywhere and I wore 2 layers to work this morning. And while I'm sad to see summer go. I'm super excited for fall activities and the slow progression into winter. But I think I'm most excited to start wearing tights and digging out all my boots!
